Auditions
The Flower Shop Project’s River of Passion: The Saga Continues brings the melodrama of soap opera to the stage. The show will follow the continuing adventures of two rival Twin Cities families that began in 2010 with the original five episodes of River of Passion. The innovative piece will offer four new episodes in true serial fashion. Though the show will be different every night, the large cast and repeating “previously on…” style of dialogue should not require more rehearsal or memorization than a typical 90 minute show for any one particular actor. Additionally, not every character will be featured in every episode, so actors won’t need to be available for every performance. For more information of the show or The Flower Shop Project, please feel free to email or call – we’d love to give you more details about this experimental piece! The show is written by Bethany Hummel and Brenna Jones and directed by Gretchen Weinrich.
Rehearsals will be weeknight evenings (and possibly some Saturday afternoons) beginning February 28. Auditions and rehearsals will be held at Epworth Methodist Church in South Minneapolis, performances will be Saturdays April 2, 9, 16 and 23 at the Bryant-Lake Bowl. All main characters will be paid a $100 stipend. Day players appear in one episode only and will be paid with love and a drink ticket good for a $1 drink at the BLB.
We’re looking for at least 2 women and 6 men, ages 18 to 60. For more info on roles available, please visit our website.
Auditions will be held Saturday, February 5 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Call 612-388-8628 or email gretchen@theflowershopproject.com to schedule your half hour time slot. Auditioners should prepare one sixty second melodramatic monologue (the soapier, the better!). Cold readings will also be required. Please bring a headshot, resume and detailed conflicts between 2/28 and 4/23.
